What is ACS?

The ALMA Common Software (ACS) provides a software infrastructure common to all partners.

Consists in a documented collection of common patterns to control systems and components implemented by those patterns. The heart of ACS is an object model of controlled devices, called Distributed Objects (DOs), implemented as CORBA network objects.

Why an UTFSM group?

  • To explore and use ACS for non astronomical projects.
  • To help and collaborate with ESO and ALMA project.
  • To learn about how real control systems works
  • To learn how to manage big and complex projects.
  • But the main reason why this group was formed is to work, but just for fun.
